Great 5-star hotel with amazing spa and pool facilities. Price-quality ratio is excellent. The rooms were spacious and everything seemed very new. Friendly staff and good breakfast. We ate at the traditional restaurant on-site (not the buffet) and this was great. Great quality food for a good price.

Was greeted by a concierge to park my car up - I knew i am in for a treat, and I was not mistaken. Rooms are spacious, our floor even had some caged birds to enjoy. Selection of pillows is available. Breakfast was amazing with staff offering to make us a Turkish coffee. Balcony was available to enjoy the view of Stara Zagora. Amazing hotel overall.

Top notch hospitality at all hours of the day and night. Also, the ground floor had a pleasant surprise, a souvenir shop with authentic Bulgarian clay pots and other merchandise. We will definitely be back.

Our host spoke serviceable English and all the comments referring to him are true. The small restaurant at the guest house has outstanding regional cuisine cooked by the host (Tony) and his wife. The meals prepared and served would be worth a visit even if you were not staying overnight. The lamb dish (24 hrs advance notice) was superior to any lamb dish that we enjoyed in a 6 month stay in Turkey. Menu prices are reasonable, and if in doubt- ask Tony for his recommendation. Room rates are very reasonable. The rooms themselves are large and pleasant, the beds very firm, the balcony views are wonderful. Parking is provided. There are many nooks and crannies throughout the property where you can spend hours in shady quiet. The location is up a long winding road up in the hill about 5km from Stara Zagora in a tiny village. You can trust Google Maps this time at least. Tony also has an eclectic taste in music. He sports a Metallica T-shirt, the music in the outdoor dining is a curious blend of of 60-90's American music standads. Listening to it makes you wonder. I was impressed enough to leave Tony with a USB stick of EDIM/70's Disco from the Fire Island treasure trove of 70's music just re-discovered.. Just an extremely pleasent place to be for 2 days. All the positive revies are absolutely true. Remember if you visit Stara Zagora- it's worth a visit just for the food and ambience.

The owner, Alexander, was great. Very attentive to our needs and did everything he could to make sure we had a good stay. We had diner at the property as well, he lit up the fireplace, the food was good, and he stayed around to chat with us a bit as well.

Starazagorski Bani for walkers and spa lovers!
Lovely thermal spa hotels and great area to stay for a few days away from the main town of Stara Zagora. Explore some of the smaller villages like Novo Selo which are surrounded by amazing views and you get a feel for Bulgarian countryside and a much slower pace of life. Eclectic mix of beautiful villas, quaint and traditional houses. Tranquil, relaxing, extremely clean air and great for walkers.

There were a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from as well as stalls selling ice creams among other things. There were a few parks dotted around which is quite nice to relax to cool off from the heat. Had a lot of drinking fountains around with fresh water which was convenient. Many reliable yellow taxis that were happy to whiz you around the city at reasonable rates. Quite an industrial city I found with a lot of tower blocks scattered throughout the city which I didn't find attractive. For my trip it was just a base, I wasn't staying there just to look round Stara Zagora. I would recommend visiting the city for a whistle stop tour but personally found there wasn't a great deal to do.

The taxi service around Stara Zagora is very cheap and quick, make sure to check the taxi prices when you first get in and check no price is over 1leva Very nice supermarkets, not a lot of people speak English but they do try their best to help you regardless The mall is very nice and there are a lot of shops there, the cinema movies are even mostly in English! The coach services from Sofia to Stara Zagora are cheap at about 14leva one way which is about £7 People are friendly and there are nice parks and pretty areas to visit

When visiting Stara Zagora as a tourist you should visit the following objectives in this order: 1. Samarsko Zname monument - for a beautiful view of the city 2. Zagorka Museum - if you are a fan of beer you should not miss this one 3. Ulpia Trayana ruins - located in the city centre they contain the famous roman amphitheater of the city 4. Regional Museum of History - close to roman ruins 5. Tsar Simeon Veliki Boulevard - stroll around it and enjoy all the restaurants and cafes you want 6. Central Park - located in the city centre 7. Ayzmato Park - veyr ncie Park in the north of the city looks more like a forest than a park which makes it very cool 8. Neolithic Dwellings museum - in the East of the City

Stara Zagora is a medium sized city in the center of Bulgaria. It boasts to be the birthplace of Bulgarian war for libaration....and that is almost all it can boast about! Yes, it has a nice main street for pedestrians only, but it is almost empty from shops and cafeterias. The bars and clubs are also limited, one cannot do much on a Saturday night around here. It does however offer nice choices for leisure and relaxation, it has a big park near the city centre that hosts the city's zoo and many different paths to roam around. Other places to visit include the Samara flag monument just outside the city as well as the ancient forum near its center. The two local malls offer many stores to shop at. A decent place for a quick 2-day escape and that's about it.

Stara Zagora has a somewhat unique history compared to some of the other cities in Bulgaria. One of the best museums we have found in the country is located here. Entrance fee is 5 Lev each, and for 20 Lev can get an English speaking guide from the museum to take you through (@17Apr2017 a Lev = $.543, so for two people, entrance and tour = just over $16 USD ).

Stara Zagora is a great place to spend a few days - it has enough to offer for any kind of visitor. A restaurant I keep going back to is Mantos - wonderfully delicious Greek and Balkan cuisine, they use seasonal produce, go to Greece for fresh fish several times a week, the garden is very pretty with many old fig trees, the wine list is quite adequate and the prices good. The central pedestrian street takes you around several very nice parks, bars, restaurants and cafes, as well as shops and other attractions. There are big parks outside of city centre as well. If you have a car, then there are a huge number of places to visit around - from archaeological and historical places, wineries, nature reserves, beautiful lakes, pretty villages, spa resorts...it's a wonderful region for a nice break.
